We're selling the house next door and that's where we've been keeping my kayak shed, it was the first building I was ever able to design for myself so I have a lot of attachment issues around it ... anyway, since we're selling the house, we had to sell the shed too. I put an ad on Craig's List and sold it to a family that lives nearby. Today the movers came with forklifts and lifted onto a flatbed truck and moved it to it's new home. We had fun watching the house fly by...

Auntie Liz hasn't seen Max and Zadie since they were 3 weeks old, she's amazed at how much they've changed...It's like they are completely different babies.




Uncle Richard and Aunt Marcia came all the way from Denver for a visit.










Grandma Jane was great at taking care of the babies. The weather was perfect for walks.

We love Whoozits

If you ever want to know what to get someone for a baby gift, we've been amazed at how much our kids love these funny little toys called 'whoozit's. They are interesting graphically with little shapes that dangle at the perimeter (perfect for chewing on) and they are literally endless hours of enjoyment. We're definitely taking these with us when we go on an airplane.










We like 'em so much we've got two.

naked time - everyday

Our kids spend too much time in diapers, so I try to do some 'naked time' everyday. Sometimes we even do a 'naked picnic', but that can get kinda scary-messy.

Max was quite excited to eat solid food, he really seems to like sweet potatoes.

Dad fed them their first meal. We don't have high chairs yet, so for now we're eating in bouncy seats. It's not so great for our backs, though the kids are comfy.









Marya and Rae are here for a visit. Rae is great at feeding and playing with her cousins.


















Our first meal was a success, then we hung out on the front porch to digest and watch the world pass by.

Zadie is licking everything she can get her tongue near, she's really into checking out textures. She loves the satin at the edge of her blanket but her longtime favorite is zippers ... she'll spend an entire walk licking her zipper. She's very cute.

Screaming Blue Meanie

Ready for a walk in the fleecy hoodies from Deanne and Michael. They have a funny zipper that goes all the way up the back, for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. One day, while wearing another zip up top, I noticed Z 's cheeks getting rubbed red by her zipper...hmmm is that why these zip up the back?



Sharon is our amazing nanny. She is a ton of fun and always has the kids laughing. Not only do the kids (and parents) absolutely adore her, but she's also got the kids sleeping longer stretches of naps. She's an expert at going into the nursery and soothing awake babies back into their slumbers.

Ok...so I decided to put his pants on his head, but he likes it, ok?!













I think that he bears more than a passing resemblence to a 'screaming blue meanie' from the movie Yellow Submarine.

Here comes trouble

Max has grown out of most of his comfy clothes (the kind you want to wear 24 hrs a day) so Dad went out and bought him this leisure suit, it says "here comes trouble". Max likes to make us all laugh - he's really starting to use his eyebrows a lot and Z always thinks that he is funny.

We just moved the kids into separate cribs, I think that they miss each other, but Max at least is getting more sleep. They now share a crib for mobile watching and special breakfasts in bed on Sunday mornings.

Zadie is a sensitive child. She seems to take in a lot during the day and the only way she is able to fall asleep is if she can block out all her senses. We have black out shades on the windows and use a white noise machine, but this isn't enough for her. Lately we've been finding her in an odd state, she won't fall asleep unless she can pull a cloth diaper over her face, like a shroud.

We've tried removing it, but she really wants something over her face: a stuffed animal, her blanket or a piece of cloth. If she doesn't have it she screams and flings her head from side to side and waves her arms in the air...we figure that the diaper is at least more breathable than her blanket. Once it's in place she grabs at the edges and shrieks, kicking her legs till she falls asleep. Later, after she's asleep, we remove it; but sometimes in the morning it's covering her face again. We all think that she is a bit strange.

The race to roll over

The facts...

Zadie is 13lbs, nimble and active, she has incredible abdominal muscles and has been doing pilates-like moves since her first week in this world. She has been stretching and almost turning over for 2 weeks - it seemed like she was going to make the final move to roll over anyday now.

Max is 20+ lbs, with a body that looks like it's made of pudding, he spends a lot of time lookin' at the ceiling and prefers be held in someone's arms while taking in the sights.

For those of you who have put money down on Zadie, it's time to pay up. In an astonishing turnaround of events Max used his substantial mass to execute a sudden 'swing of the left leg' maneuver - rolling over to land face to face, directly in front of Z. Applause was heard throughout the land...

We anticipate Z to make her move any hour now.

Paul says that it appears to be time to baby-proof the house.
