orcas island

We spent a week up in the San Juan Islands on Orcas - we did a lot of walking and the kids really enjoyed the woods.

While hiking, every time Max saw a big tree he'd say: "bye-bye... bo-bo". We have no idea what he meant but we sure did see a whole lot of big trees.

I got to spend an afternoon kayaking (thank you Paul!)

Z thoroughly enjoyed holding pebbles in her mouth, much to her mom's dismay.

mother's day

our lovely children

like two peas in a pod

Ania had the kids try their first finger painting (ok, it was more like body painting)...she made me this beautiful card.

Painted on Max's back: "i love mama", painted on Zadie's back: "Me 2"

all the things you can do with a box

zadie has really found a new passion: spending some quality time in her big red box ... multiple times a day, multiple days in a row, zadie can be found loading her precious possessions into the big red box.

...loading it up

...climbing in

...kicking back in her toy baby stroller drawing a couple of circles

...and finally having acquired the perfect amount of stuff around her to make her feel happy:

2 baby strollers
3 magna doodle drawing boards
1 talking lawnmower
1 giant squeaking dolphin
1 blow up soccer ball
1 deflated red balloon
1 cup of snack crackers (because you never know when you are gonna get hungry)

...another day with stuff in the red box

...it also makes a great chalkboard

...or a train

...or just a great place to hang out with your brother to draw.

our first rock concert: The Sippy Cups!

We took the kids to their first rock concert - a psychedelic kids band from San Francisco called The Sippy Cups! The music was fun, they had crazy costumes, jugglers and even a unicycle...and they shot beautiful silvery mylar streamers into the crowd - it made everyone ooh and ahh.

Max went crazy for the huge balloons they threw into the audience. He was by far the smallest kid in the 'mosh pit' - he was very brave and never got trampled...he really wanted to touch some of those huge bouncing balloons. He's hard to find so I circled him for you.
