trip to bend

We took a trip to Bend and got a great house by the Deschutes river with a view of the mountain.

We spent our days going on hikes

my favorite was Smith Rock, the rock climbing mecca.

not that I climb or anything - but I love the view.

The kids believe that they are rock climbers and still say "I a rock climber!"

Z likes to climb "little girl rocks", you know, "pink ones".

Sometimes we needed to carry them around in the backpacks, but generally they were great at walking.

we visited some high altitude lakes, it was beautiful.

Bend is a volcanic landscape with lots of cinder cones and ancient lava fields.

The dynamic duo in a lava cave.

Max's favorite part of the trip might have been the choo choos or all the construction vehicles we saw working everywhere we went. This kid seems to know every vehicle name...he's such a boy!

Sarah's beautiful art project

it's a lovely fall here in portland.

Z likes to pick out her own clothes

yes, Z does dress herself and she's got very definitive ideas on what goes together.

don't even try to encourage her to wear anything else, her mind is set.

her favorite style at the moment is the 'shorts over the pants' look.

she gives new meaning to 'the layered look'

movie of Z saying the rhyme ' this is the way the ladies ride... bumpity, bumpity, bump - yeehaw'...she's quite the little cowgirl...I mean delicate flower.

Sorry, you'll have to turn your head sideways to watch it, but it's worth it.

habits of the orangutan

Max stepping up to give a talk on the habits of the orangutan to a group of his peers.

Lunch with our favorite friends Eden & Cedar.

We met their parents, Eve & Eric, at a 'Multiple Expectations' class when we were still pregnant...the class didn't prepare us at all for the amazing challenges & fun that lay ahead.

laundry is hilarious

Just think of Max as a 'beat' poet - heeey! (movie)

eating sandwiches and kickin' back...our twins seem to end up in exactly the same poses.

farmer's market

weeeoooo weeeeoooo fire trucks rule!

they say it's your birthday!

we are now 2 years old!

wow...we made it, what a milestone! it seems to be getting easier...or is it?

we made the kids some awesome playhouses out of boxes, it even has a tunnel connecting the two.

Z's other gift was a shopping cart, she loves to fill it up with all her worldly belongings (she's quite the little hoarder).

Max is really into dumptrucks and anything else with wheels that makes a lot of noise.

he also loves choo choos

playing with cedar in the sandbox

sarah made beautiful puppets

Z enjoyed the balloons from Mimi & Poppa

eating cake

Max really liked his cake

but he quickly gave up using a fork and went for the more direct approach

he spent a long time getting it all in

cleaning him off was fun too

happy birthday max & zadie...happy birthday to you!
